What duties do volunteers have?
Volunteers are assigned to a variety of committees, performing the many tasks required to conduct a PGA TOUR event. A description of each committee is available for your review prior to your selection of committee choices.
Which days are volunteers needed? How long can I be expected to work each day?
The great majority of volunteer requirements are Wednesday through Sunday of tournament week, but some assistance may be required before and after the tournament. Depending on the committee on which you serve, the average workday is 4 to 6 hours long.
How many shifts do I have to work to be eligible for the volunteer golf outing at Annandale Golf Club?
You must work a minimum of 4 shifts to be eligible to play in the volunteer golf outing.
What does the volunteer fee cover?
The fee covers the uniform (one golf shirt, one ball cap or visor), entrance to the climate-controlled volunteer hospitality area, food and beverage while on shift, preferred parking, volunteer credential (weeklong grounds pass) and (5) Good Any Day guest passes.
Why do I have to pay for a uniform if I am volunteering my time?
Our event is operated as a 501(c)3 charity and every available dollar is dedicated to our mission of raising the maximum amount for charity. This year, our primary charity is Friends of Children’s Hospital at UMC. So, by purchasing your uniform, you are helping us raise money for the children’s hospital.
Where do I eat while I am volunteering?
A 2,500 sq. ft. air conditioned Volunteer Tent located near the clubhouse where you may eat for free and relax on the days you are volunteering. We have restaurants such as Buffalo Wild Wings, McAlister’s Deli, Little Caesar’s, PF Chang’s and Chimneyville BBQ Smoke House provide food to our volunteers.
When can I sign up?
Online registration opens Wednesday, May 1st.
Is there a minimum age limit to volunteer?
Yes. Volunteers under the age of 16 years old can be a Standard Bearer. You must be of Junior High age or older to volunteer as a Standard Bearer.
If I purchase tickets and then become a volunteer, can I get a refund for my tickets?
No. Unfortunately all ticket sales are final.
Can I watch golf when I am not volunteering?
Yes. Your credential is valid for the entire week and we encourage you to do so. On days that you are working as a volunteer, before or after your shift, you are welcome to watch golf as a spectator. On days that you are not working as a volunteer, please do not wear your volunteer uniform.
Can I take photographs or ask for autographs?
Cameras are permitted for spectators only Monday through Wednesday. Cameras are not permitted on the grounds Thursday through Sunday. You may ask for a players autograph following the completion of their round, but not while they are playing.
Where do I park as a volunteer?
Volunteers will receive a Lot B or Lot E parking permit. Please follow directional signage on 463 to your appropriate lot.
Can I be scheduled (shift assignments) at the same time as my spouse, friend, etc.?
We will make every effort to accommodate your request. Make sure to list your request in the “Work with or Committee Selection” portion of the registration process. Shift coordinating is only applicable within each committee (i.e. two people on different committees cannot be scheduled to work together at the same times).
What if I cannot attend the training session?
Please make every effort to attend training. However, if you are unable to attend, your Committee Chairperson/Hole Captain will provide you with necessary information. If you are volunteering as a walking scorer or running ShotLink, it is very important you attend the training on Monday, July 15th.
How do I know my volunteer assignment?
We will email you confirmation with your committee assignment and Chairperson/Hole Captain’s contact information prior to the tournament.
When will I hear from my Chairperson/Hole Captain?
Shortly after you are given your assignment, you should receive some type of communication from your Chairperson/Hole Captain. If you have not heard from someone by July 1st, please let Renee’ D’Agostino know at the tournament office.
How do I know my schedule? When will I receive my schedule?
When you initially register to volunteer, you will select your top three committee preferences. During this time, please take time and fill out your desired dates and times you would like to volunteer. Chairpersons/Hole Captains will begin scheduling at the beginning of June, and will be in touch with you around that time.
What happens if it rains?
The event will go on and we will need your help!! Make sure to report to your committee’s check-in location 15-20 minutes prior to your shift, rain or shine. Any weather delays or cancellations will be communicated on our website, Facebook, Twitter and via radio to your Chairperson/Hole Captain.
When will I receive my uniform?
You will pick up your uniform at Uniform Distribution which will take place in June. You will receive information about Uniform Distribution closer to the event.
What if my uniform does not fit?
Please call Renee’ at the tournament office to schedule a time to exchange. After uniform distribution, we cannot guarantee that your size will be available.
Can I purchase extra uniform items?
Yes. You can purchase them at any time. After registration, uniform items will be available for exchange and purchase at the Tournament Office and at Volunteer Headquarters during the week of the event. Times for the Volunteer Tent sales will be posted tournament week.
If I am no longer able to volunteer, can I receive a refund?
Yes. You will be issued a refund if you cancel before June 24, 2013. Please call Renee’ D’Agostino at the tournament office at 601.898.4653 at your earliest opportunity to request a refund.
Who benefits from the work I do?
Of course the players and spectators greatly appreciate the efforts of our volunteers — it’s no secret that the success of the event depends on our volunteer force. An enhanced experience for players, spectators and sponsors ensures our charitable giving increases. The Sanderson Farms Classic has many charitable partners, though our main benefiting charity is the Friends of Children’s Hospital at UMC.
